Our Latest Obsession: Take 2

After months of hard work, dedication, and a large amount of help from family and friends, our latest obsession, the home of Brianna and her fiancé Cody, has become a cozy country retreat, with a modern flare.  We are thrilled with the transformation and wanted to give you all a glance into the makeover this home has had, both before and after the most exciting element of the renovation, the decorating!

Let’s begin with the living room, the first room we tackled in our renovation adventure!

Aaww, fresh coat of paint on the living room walls and trim – instant results!

We decided to paint the ceilings and walls the same color, as the color is light enough and doing so envelopes the room. The color Brianna has chosen is Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore; the trim color is Chantilly Lace, also by Benjamin Moore. As you will see, these colors look absolutely amazing with the accent colors Brianna has chosen!

Brianna envisioned her home to be stylish and trendy, regardless of its age.  When she chose gray as her wall color, she knew that she wanted to use blacks, whites, silvers, and pastels to accent the room.  She used a combination of décor that she previously owned, antiques, hand-me-down items that she made her own, and of course, many items from Posh, to make her home the stylish abode that she desired.

The shape of the room made it quite difficult to arrange the furniture, as there are windows on two of the walls, a jut-out on another, and doors entering into the bedroom and kitchen.  This made it difficult to decide on the perfect way to arrange the furniture and television.  After many hours of rearranging and frustration, we came up with the perfect solution.  Brianna had fallen in love with silver curtain panels with a ruffled top that we carry at Posh and knew that she would be using them somewhere in her new home.  What we decided to do was run the curtains from corner to corner on one of the walls, covering the small, awkward and non centered window that was making it difficult to arrange the furniture.  The curtains created a wonderful illusion of a larger window being behind the curtains, as well as the perfect backdrop for Brianna and Cody’s television.

One day, when looking for treasures at Riverview Antiques, we came across this GORGEOUS antique side board.  We knew it would be perfect for Brianna and Cody’s home, and had first planned on using it in the kitchen.  However, after thinking it through, we realized that it was not going to fit properly in that specific room.  Brianna knew, however, that it had to be used somewhere in her home!  I suggested that it would work as a television stand, as the TV could sit on the top, and the satellite receiver, DVD player, etc, would be able to occupy the bottom shelf.  This ended up working out perfectly, and the combination of the silver curtains and antique side board is one of our favorite elements of the home!

We finished off the room with a gorgeous print of Marilyn Monroe, metallic silver throw pillows, an amazing silver feather wreath, a dramatic large black mirror, a fabulous zebra print bench, and many stylish accessories, creating a chic and trendy atmosphere!

Brianna and Cody have absolutely fallen in love with their new home.  They are slowly making every room their own, and we will soon have updates on one of the largest transformations of our renovation adventure, the kitchen!

Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!

Our Latest Obsession

We have recently acquired my great-grandmother’s home, the perfect starter home, as well as an amazing design project.  The location will be the new home of Brianna, her fiancé Cody, and their chocolate lab, Texas.

The cozy house has a ton of potential, a nice layout, hardwood floors, a beautiful secluded lot, and great neighbors (yes, Brianna & I are now neighbors)!

It is quite an undertaking and is going to require a lot of hard work and dedication, but we are so excited! We would love to bring you along on this design adventure as we make over the home, room by room.

Here is a glimpse of what we will be working with as we embark on our decorating journey:

As you can see, the house is currently requiring a major face lift.  We plan to be extremely creative on a tight budget, so stay tuned, and let’s have some fun!!

Inspired by Color

Lately, we have been on the lookout for unique pieces of furniture that we could makeover with a coat of colorful paint and use in showroom displays.

It is so fun to experiment with some of the latest color trends without breaking the bank, and when a new trend comes along, it is easy to make a change with the stroke of a paint brush.

Our latest find, this solid wood pedestal table – which we were lucky to get for an amazing price!

Not only would this piece be a great table to use in a breakfast nook, it would look stunning in a large foyer, or in the corner of a bedroom flanked with two wingback chairs.
But, the new home for this little gem will be Posh – setting the stage for some chic and fun displays.
We have chosen the color HC150, Yarmouth Blue by Benjamin Moore for the fabulous table and we are absolutely THRILLED with the finished product!

For our first display, we decided to keep it sleek, simple, and stylish.

Both of us have become addicted to discovering pieces that can be completely revamped by covering it with a gorgeous hue.  We cannot wait to discover our next creative project, we are hooked!

Summer Trends

When deciding what stylish products to bring into the showroom, we not only indulge in home décor magazines, we seek out fashion magazines to discover the latest trends in fashion, including clothing, shoes, accessories, and even nail colors.  The similarity between trends in home décor and fashion is extraordinary, and because we both love fashion as much as we love décor, our job becomes that much more exciting! Who doesn’t want to do research when it includes looking at photos of gorgeous décor and fashions?

The connection between trends inspired us to focus this entry on a few of the summer trends that we are seeing in both décor and fashion.

The first trend we are seeing is COLOR.  Whether it is pastels, or bold, dramatic hues, color is one of the top trends of summer 2012.  Color is inspiring, and it has the ability to dramatically update a room or outfit.  There were hundreds of gorgeous photos that we wanted to post with this trend, but we thought it would be best to cut that back.

We have had so much fun bringing color into Posh’s showroom.  Some of our favorite colorful pieces include:

Combing classic black and white is the perfect way to create a chic and stylish atmosphere within your home, as well as add staple items to your wardrobe.  We both LOVE black and white, and believe this trend has the ability to live on forever.
Some of our favorite photos of black and white trends in both décor and fashion are shown below.

We absolutely love expressing this trend within the Posh showroom.

The connection between trends in home décor and fashion makes decorating and styling your wardrobe that much more exciting!  Next time you finish flipping through your favorite fashion magazine, take the time to glance at your favorite home décor magazine, you will be amazed by the similarity in trends.
Have a wonderful week everyone.
